By playing with elements of scale and perspective, Poire (The Pear) by the Québec based artist Philippe Lareau aims to start a dialogue with the viewer. A warm but subdued backdrop of peach and warm grey allow the central sliced pear to control the composition from a vantage point that is neither close nor distant. Lareau’s deliberate use of cropping and skewed perspective draws in the viewer, whilst its use of warm complementary colours helps create a soothing scene. Frame not included.
